I designed the typeface Signe as an assignment for a type design course. Signe has a modern twist, but was based on the traditional technique to hand draw with a wide pen to achieve the right contrast of the lines.

Signe is a sans-serif typeface designed for titles and shorter texts. It features a number of details visible when used in big sizes, but also works well in small sizes.

 

Signe was based on a Garamond style font, but the serifs were taken away to create an interesting balance act font.
