For this photography project, I reacreated scenes from 2 modern books, 2 classic books, and 2 comic books through surreal photo manipulation. My original concept was to have someone reading a book and then it coming to life in front of them. This idea is shown in the last image, which was the only one where I originally planned to photograph both the book and the reader in the same location. However I believe the reader would distract from the activity in front of them, which in the end, is of course the main focus of the project.
To extend the project, I created a set of cinemagraphs, which animated a small portion of each image, bringing it to life even further. These could be displayed on websites as animated GIFs, or elsewhere in their native video format.
Most of the Cinemagraphs were created by using the "Wiggle" expression on the colour, layer style, position or other value, whilst keeping the rest of the image static.
