The Lively Fashion Project

The Lively Fashion Project
In 'The Lively Fashion Project' I developed a capsule collection that responds to sustainability frameworks. The project establishes a circular fashion system that the collection then is designed to fit within.
The collection has expanding features; open sections that expand and decrease with wear; stitched in pleats that can be unpicked to increase the size of an item easily, or a new pleat can be added to decrease the size of an item.
The collection is dyed using natural dyes; turmeric, black beans, and black rice. And each item is made from only one fibre - mono-material - making the item easier to recycle into new garments or other textile products. Thus closings are ties or folds, rather than zips or buttons.
The collection is accompanied by expanded care instructions and dye recipes, so that each item can be kept at high quality and worn for an extended period of time. Especially non-toxic dyeing recipes could enable consumers to revamp items with new color rather than dispose of them as they potentially go out of style.
Finally, the collection is supported by the circular system that defines a garments life-cycle and closes loops, but also highlights issues with the fashion industry allowing for directing attention to possible improvements the industry can develop.
Below follows developmental materials.
