Updating and Refining Catalog Forms and Promotions
Part of my job in the Catalog Production department involves freshening the appearance of standard forms and promotions in each of the company's catalogs. In some cases, its just a matter of updating the look; in others, it means streamlining or overhauling the presentation of information.

Gold Card Club Application Redesign
Thisapplication for the company's special discount program needed afacelift. The front of the old application conveyed little of what theprogram was about, and the back drew little attention to the catalogpromotion at the bottom.
In redesigning the front, I highlighted the two biggest selling points: 10% Discount and Free Shipping, and I added graphics that communicated what the program is really about: auto parts and saving money.The back now has a far more prominent display of the catalog selection.The top halves and bottom halves are now more distinctly different,which is appropriate for a page meant to be cut in half.

Theold layout for this promotion was very rigid and basic. I chose tobreathe life into it by breaking out of the grid-like structure andplaying with the flow a bit. Arranging the catalog covers into anangle-bracket shape pointing toward the interior of the catalog, I thenadded a background of open catalogs laid out in an arc running counterto the angle, leading the eye throughout the page. I also made greateruse of the racing stripe in the company's logo, turning it into agraphic container for the page.

Therewas little I could to to alter the information on the order form, butthe presentation was in dire need of organization. The new layout ismuch easier on the eyes, allowing the customer to navigate through itwith little trouble.
