I was contracted by Smartling to design a whitepaper on the topic of Brands & Localization. I had a lot of creative freedom in making this sort of text-heavy document highly readable and visually appealing.
Each chapter/section is structured into an introduction, opening paragraph(s), and the rest of the copy in columns for easier reading.
I created illustrations as focal points for most of the sections. Some of these have a playful character, such as the NYC taxi, and the skateboard.
I had the most fun with the 'Cultural preferences in web design' page. I picked a landmark building/familiar structure for each of the five countries and meticulously recreated it in Adobe Illustrator. I have to admit that it was harder deciding how to lay them out on the page.
