Active and unexpected interaction between the Police Academy and Performance Theater was explored through generative formal studies. Transformation of volumes led to new functional and spatial opportunities. Simultaneously, negative spaces evolved and informed the program and the quality of spaces.
We defined two main principles of how volumes and spaces form:
1. The twist as the building forms up, which serves as the main circulation and allows for the exposure of the public to a procession-like experience throughout the building (white).
2. The repetition of the volumes as they wrap around the top, which allows to set up stages and attract the city to the building (green).
