In this project we had to choose something that upset us, made us angry, annoyed or just something that has create an effect on you as an individual. Hence the name "Agitate".

 

I decided to choose gun crime. I researched how gun crime has effected the UK, and the areas and races which it has been targeted towards. The final outcome of this project had to be from an A2 size piece of paper. This could have been cut, or folded or formed in anyway, even to make a 3D advertisement if wished. 

 

I decided that i wanted to make the project personal, and to bring the viewer into the piece. I thought that if you were the person in the campaign, then you would take more account of yourself, and how you could be effected. 

For the Special Effects Make-up I used;

 

Moulding Wax to create the exit wound of the bullet.

Foundation to cover the clear moulded wax.

Black and Red Face paint for the inner and outer edges of the wound. 

Purple, Yellow, Blue and Green eye shadow for the bruising round the wound. 

Caked Blood for the deeper red, more blood like areas. 

Fake Blood for the wet dripping effect and smears. 

 

I have many thumbnail sketches to decide from, but this one i really liked. I wanted to make it seem like when the individual looked at the poster they would see their eyes in the poster, as if they were the one being shot. I would have used a form of mirror so the viewer would be able to themself in the reflection. 

After deciding that with the image blown to A2 size, the idea of the eyes being the only part seen wouldn't work as the mirror size would also enlarge making more than just the eyes visisble. I decided to split the image in half, to have 2 ideas combined. One pritned on Mirror, to show the typography and the other to show the imagery i created using the special effects make-up.
