A number of years ago now I created the branding and packaging design for my very own handmade men’s accessories label Gentleman & Scholar Apparel. After noticing the very limited range of alternative accessories available for men, especially in the wedding scene, I set off to source an eclectic mix of fabrics and got sewing. My mission for Gentleman & Scholar was to bring back the refined man, and I aimed to do this through dressing gentlemen in alternative dapper attire; as well as providing a hub for inspiration and education around wearing, sourcing and using men’s clothing and products. The Gentleman & Scholar branding had an old world charm to it, with typefaces inspired by yester years, hand-stamped and letterpress business stationary, and lots of attention to detail. 5 year later, I’ve made and sold well over a thousand bow ties, pocket squares and neckties through my online shop and met a fun bunch of blokes, photographers, stylists and wedding vendors along the way.
