KASKADEUR - Uncanny Valley (3D Music Video)

The song 'Uncanny Valley' describes the disturbing encounter with the dark sides of virtual reality. Lousy pretenders benefit from the consequences of digital liberalism and the promises of progress are turned into a surrender to the superiority of omnipresent corporations. The intensity of this experience slams down in a massive punk prog hybrid with powerpop hooklines and the whole caboodle.

I had the opportunity to not only do the cover artwork for KASKADEUR's new album 'Uncanny Valley' but also create a fully animated CGI music video. My goal was to use only the 3D scanned faces of the four band members as source material, but then again break out and experiment in all possible directions. Materiality, shape, colour and light are elastic terms. Clear boundaries can be dissolved. The result could be seen as an uncanny journey into the subconscious.

Special Thanks to: Miriam Humm for consulting and supporting me during this project, Patrik Bablo for the photos and
Enrico Semler, Michael Paukner and Ole Fischer for the trust you've placed in me.
