I was asked to learn something that I would be interested about or I would be keen to develop a skill or learn something completely new in 20 hours. Once those 20 hours have been completed of that skill, I must develop a data visualisation or an infographic poster of what I have learnt. We need to document the 20 hours and while doing this we must remember to keep in mind what we felt, what we learnt and how long it took to learn it be unbiased about the process.
I chose to learn the skill of producing music, specifically Lo-Fi music. I produced 4 songs and then a 5th song as my final song. I used samples and other additives to create the 4 songs. For my final song i wanted to give myself a challenge because i had almost got the skill down of using samples. I wanted to learn how to record my own samples and put them together.
Here are the first 4 songs. Each one, if you listen carefully, shows you how i progressed to making a Lo-Fi song.
For my final song i decided to do a genre of Lo-Fi music that has my own samples of music in it. From a pepper corn grinder for a shaker to using a singer with their voice. I did a cover of Ain't no Sunshine and turned it into a Lo-Fi blues song. Enjoy.
This is the infographic i created. Explaining the definition of Lo-Fi music to a step by step on how to created something like my final song. Having extra information at the bottom giving you facts and stats about Lo-Fi, as well as having definition to help you on your way of creating a satisfactory track to listen to.
