Washington Alliance | Rebranding Concept

WASHINGTON ALLIANCE
Rebranding Concept

The Washington NFL franchise has decided to officially retire the "Redskins" team name. Personally, I think the change was long overdue and for fun creative exercise, I wanted to rebrand the franchise. The challenge was to rebrand the team in a way that was relevant, yet non offensive. I've seen a  lot of cool rebrand options based around names like "Redhawks" and "Redtails".  For this project, I decided to rebrand them as the "Washington Alliance".

Merriam-Webster defines ALLIANCE as "a bond or connection between families, states, parties, or individuals"  The theory behind the name is that after gaining their independence from Britain in 1781, the 13 colonies became a Union or an “Alliance”. Washington DC officially became the capitol of the United States in 1790.

The elements that make up the concept in the primary logo are: the letter “A” for Alliance, Washington Monument, elements from the Washington DC flag and the classic burgundy & gold color scheme the Washington football team has been known for.⁣

For the uniforms, I tried to retain the classic look but slightly modernized them to fit with the NFL today.
