Mapping is an act of visual communication that requires us all to produce a small graphic abstraction of reality. This book documents the prototyping stage, testing and exploration of the primary visual research stage of the project to its design conclusions. It also documents the results of running and refining a workshop I designed and tested with a group of first year students using the concept of mapping to help define visual thinking and encourage experimentation with materials.
