Cedar's Foods – 2020 Recipe Videos

Cedar's Foods
2020 Recipe Videos

Recently, I helped Cedar's introduce a curious and fun approach to recipe videos for an oversaturated social market. Eight recipe videos were produced over the course of a 4 day shoot for Cedar's Foods in conjunction with the release of 3 new flavors. This bright, colorful and highly social treatment is simply meant to inspire while introducing the range hommus has to offer to a whole new younger social audience.

We shot an abridged step by step flow for each recipe, using stop motion on plexiglass over a green screen. Background colors and shifting shapes were added digitally to bring the steps to life. Each 16x9 video also needed a shorter 9x16 Instagram Story cutdown. Subsequently a range of sharable stickers for giphy were created using steps from each recipe.

Proof of Concept

We initially set out to shoot all animation on camera, but the volume and time we had to complete all 8 lead us to incorporating background elements digitally. Below is the proof on concept which we did entirely on camera with colored paper backgrounds.
