Based in Virginia, I shoot around the world. Primarily aerial and location for corporate, adland and editorial. With way too many hours in the rear cabin of a turbine helicopter, I bring years of experience and a safety mindset to every shoot. When I am not in the air, I photograph people on location or large industrial sites that are a challenge to make look interesting and attractive.

My personal work is focused on watershed images and am currently working on two river projects in the Commonwealth of Virginia. These project incorporate portraits, landscapes and low-level aerials shot from quad-copters.

I am married to a woman who is much smarter than me. Enough said.

Born in Miami, my family heritage is Scots, Irish and Scandinavian. Notable ancestors include John "The Immigrant" Rankin who settled in Virginia in 1640. John Thomas Rankin, the Presbyterian minister whose home was the first stop in the Ohio Underground Railroad was my great-great-great-grandfather. Robert Morrison Lambie, my Great Grandfather on my fathers side, immigrated from Scotland via Canada and became the Chief of the bureau of mines in West Virginia. He was a noted inventor and worked as a young man with Thomas Edison. He carried a thick Scots Burr all his life and I remember as a child his stories of Scotland and his tall tales of the Edinburgh Castle being our Clan Castle. (Which it is most certainly not!)
