My name is Anthony Georgou, I was born in 1985 in Athens, Greece, and I am a composer, a producer and a multi-instrumentalist.

As a child, I attended private piano and classical guitar lessons at the Nakas conservatory and in my early teens, through my first experience of playing the electric guitar, I discovered my fascination about the amplified electric sound. I immediately decided to study electric guitar and bass instead, along with classic theory, harmony, orchestration and history of western music. Meanwhile, my passion and curiosity about electronic and computer-sequenced music kept growing, and therefore I also began exploring digital sound and composition.

By the age of 19, I had already worked as a composer for TV commercials, collaborating with some of the biggest production companies and advertisement agencies in Greece at the time. During that same period, I formed the industrial-post-grunge band “Absent Mindead”. In 2006, the song “Prozack” which I composed and co-produced for the band was listed by Billboard magazine as one of six finalists at the Diesel-U-Music International Competition.

In 2008 I moved to London to attend the Music Composition program at Kingston University, only to discover a year later a lack of interest in the specific course.

When I returned to Greece in 2009, I taught myself music composition for film and visual arts. I quickly got involved in various projects for which I composed the music, and where I gradually gained more and more practical knowledge, developed my personal style, and learned to approach each project with respect to its unique identity of music and sound: five short films, one feature film called “The Ones that have Fallen” by director Susan Hunt in 2013, video games, corporate presentation films of Disney Lab in Zurich and the Greek Stem Cell Foundation, the new original music and songs for the children ’s theatrical play “The Child and the Spells” produced by Porta Theater, and the music for fashion shows of the Greek designers Sotiris Georgiou and Deux Hommes.

In the meantime, I also worked as a sound designer, video editor, CG operator and occasionally as a music composer, in various spots, infomercials and corporate videos for TV and the web such as the Athens & Epidaurus festival spot in 2014. I contributed as a producer, arranger and mixing engineer for various rock and electronic bands of the Athenian indie scene, such as the Zebra Tracks, the Noise Figures and Sad Disco. I also studied for the teaching diploma in electric guitar from The London College of Music (DipLCM) and through it, I acquired a short but substantial experience as an electric guitar and popular music theory tutor.

In 2014, I formed the indie-electro-rock-folk band “The East”, and released a 10” vinyl single (Slo Mo / Tripoli) with Six Dogs Records. Read Less
