Experienced in multiple aspects of labor and employment law, including negotiations and mediation, Jon Schorsch draws on a background in law enforcement. He served the Port of Seattle Police Department for 24 years, during which time he achieved the rank of sergeant and assumed responsibility for the performance of as many as 20 officers. A field training officer and a certified peer-support counselor, as well as a defensive tactics instructor, Jon Schorsch educated members of the force in areas ranging from departmental policy to patrol tactics.

Medically retired from the police force in 2007, Jon Schorsch subsequently earned a master's degree in public administration as well as a juris doctor. He focused much of his pre-professional work as an intern in labor-related positions, first with the Mediation Clinic and later with Teamsters Local 117. As an intern with the teamsters union, he assisted in mediation and arbitration hearings and developed potential resolutions to issues of alleged unfair labor practices.

Jon Schorsch has also served as an intern in the County Department of Public Defense, where he participated in case preparation for clients facing misdemeanor charges. He now volunteers with the Starbucks Diversity Mentorship Program and serves as a mediator with Volunteers of America.

In his free time, he enjoys waterskiing, snow skiing, running, and sailing. Read Less
