An artist’s worth comes from their desire to learn. As a student coming from a limited artistic background prior to entering Ringling College of Art and Design, I always harbored an insatiable appetite for broadening my horizons academically. My love for theater and film along with my education is what drove me to pursue a career in visual development.

I find that the most successful means of ideation is through taking subject matter, such as a genre or a narrative, and transforming it into something delightfully unexpected. Using this method I have turned a doghouse into a 1920s style gentlemen’s bar, and I have taken a film noir and transformed it into a comedy.

The point of visual development is ideation. Illustrators, writers, and production developers find the one true look and feel of a piece, project, or series through careful trial and error. This continues until a project is in a place where it could not look like anything else. It is a grueling process, but a rewarding one. Read Less
