I got the artistic education in Russian Federation, fisrt in Siberia, afterwards in Saint Petersburg, the education is based on classic academic principals. I also devoted time to artistic research and exprirments.
Free art started first when I got know about artsists from different movements: Abstractionism, Abstract Expressionism, Constructivism, Conceptualism, Minimalism. Later I supplied my works and projects with more individual elements. Since that time I have started paying attention to details from my projects, thus detail is a key element towards the achievement of work wholeness. Nuances play huge role.
While I working now I take into account academic school principles, classic painting school bases, at the same time I try to develop industrial art. Thus I copy other artists to cement this segment (ceramics artists from Italy, Chia, Germany 15 – 17 century, Russian Avangard 20 century). I try to percept basic principles of composition order amongst graphic and sculpture, study color approaches amongst different artistic works different epochs dated.
During foreign trips I visit museums of modern and classic art. China and porcelain manufactories, such as ARABIA (Finland); different educational institutions (AALTO, Helsinki). This is unique opportunity to see the manufacturing process itself, artistic search of experienced or immature artists. I definitely maintain cultural communication with students and alumnus from different native and foreign universities: St. Petersburg State Academy of Art and Design, Ural State University of Architecture and Art Khanty-Mansiysk Institute of Design and Applied Arts, Royal College of Art in London, Parsons: Fashion, Art and Design School in New York.
Sometimes I include modern elements from different modern authors’ works into my artistic projects, which allows to follow development and tendencies in modern art. That’s how I was inspired by British sculptures Richard Deacon, Anish Kapoor. I’m studying the art approach of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei.
Amongst my works (painting, graphics, ceramics, photography) I avoid straight story telling. In my opinion. Ceramics is the material which brings huge opportunities for an artists. Its roots lie amongst cultural majority. Art education (ceramic) should introduce student with history of evaluation, varied approaches for decorating and molding art objects; that allows to accumulate and apply huge experience of previous generations, be free interpreting ideas. Due to painting – I’m catch by color and shape. I try to represent mood and characteristics of objects due to emotional grade of perception. I’m interested in both: unorthodox or usual ideas. Now I’m in so called artistic search, trying different approaches for varied artistic purposes. I use gouache acrylic, tempera; combine them often for better expression. Besides brushes use fascia, cloth, stencil. Paper os often used.
Some of my projects full of aesthetic of Russian and German Constructivism, Finnish and Northern American modernism, pure shapes are presented. Some of my projects are based on such artists as: Paul Jackson Pollock, Joan Miró i Ferrà, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Willem de Kooning. Usually I let viewer to accomplish and develop my idea. Read Less
