BAM! Water Tower Conversion

There are so many  water storage reservoirs that are part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's landscapes.  A water tower is an elevated structure supporting a water tank constructed at a height sufficient to pressurize a water supply system for the distribution of potable water, and to provide emergency storage for fire protection.  They are located in an industrial site usually within or adjacent to residential developments.  As a result of their appearance, they are ignored and considered eyesores by onlookers. This proposal provides an innovative design concept to renovate the towers and provide alternative functions for them.

The concept proposes to adapt the water storage reservoir into a core and shell structure that provides flexibility to house a variety of spaces that are determined by the needs of the client and public.  Spaces such as an art museum, children's museum, multifunctional cultural center, hotel, vertical garden, library and many more.  Adaptive reuse can breath new life into the towers, transforming them into an inspiring and lively place that will help shape the character of the residential developments they are located in and also improve the lifestyles of people who make use of the converted water storage reservoirs.
