This project integrates a progressive, active living concept focussed on community and neighbourhood interaction within a context of sustainable, luxurious lifestyles. Situated on a wooded bluff overlooking the Halifax Harbour, the 63-acre development proposal utilizes concepts from New Urbanism and Low Impact Design to preserve forests and integrate a connected system of open space and natural areas throughout the development. Cutting-edge approaches to stormwater management combine with preservation of native vegetation and natural drainage patterns to maintain the natural beauty and ecological function of the site. An innovative system of atrium passages connects the primary facilities to create a sense of community and allow the site to function as a large, circuit-fitness facility with stations for exercise and wellness. This is integrated with an outdoor path network with opportunities for residents and visitors of a range of physical capabilities to enjoy the outdoors and spectacular views.
