Ukudla is an imaginary African restaurant serving the gourmet traditional dishes from all around the African continent and tribes. The name Ukudla was chosen since in Zulu language it means food in addition to that I wanted a name that really sounds African.
During my research, I was really inspired by all the different colors and fabrics that African tribes wear/paint on their faces and bodies. I did a few different sketches for the logo till I decided to chose the portrait of an African head with different ornaments above it. During sketching, I realized that I can make use of those ornaments, thus I wrote Ukudla and اوكودلا (< that would be Ukudla in Arabic) in an abstract way above the head.
The rest of the branding - as mentioned early - consists of colorful random patterns that reflects the identity of the restaurant in a contemporary manner. Moreover I used real "havana colored" leather for a touch of contrast with the colorful patterns.
