This painting presented is derived from the kalamkari painting style. A style of painting thats hand painted or block printed on cotton textile. Kalamkari, wherein the "kalam" or pen is used for free hand drawing of the subject and filling in the colours, is entirely hand worked. This style is flowered around temples and their patronage and so has an almost religious identity for me to adapt it to design this traditional wedding card for a couple. I really enjoyed the whole process from painting to printing.
