The Poetry of Things

THE POETRY OF THINGS
advertising design for the high museum of art, atlanta
Opportunity
Create a typographic self portrait

Solution
What began as a simple typeface portrait was transformed into an award winning advertisement. The type used in the portrait is actually lyrics from a song called Quelqu’un m’a dit by Carla Bruni. The main theme of the song is to strive for optimism in love, even though fate promises everything and gives us nothing. As cynical as I may seem sometimes, this is still something that I try to do. All of the text, save for one sentence in the lower left corner, is in French. This sentence reads, “I will always love.”

My professor commented on the fact that I resemble Georgia O’Keeffe while I was presenting this project. From this comment, I decided to turn my self-portrait into an advertisement for the High Museum of Art to enter into the local ADDY awards. I won a gold local ADDY in the Consumer Publication category.
