Strung Serif

Typography
Strung Serif

Experimental typeface
This is my first atempt ever to make a typeface from scratch. With Strung, I wanted to experiment with simple shapes and readability, to see what it takes to make a type readable. It is built on a very simple grid, to make the letters fit together, and make a whole new grid by it self.

The name
Strung comes from the initial thought, that the letters were strung around a large negative space, which makes up most of the letterforms. In this typeface, the negative space is just as important as the positive space, and by combining the letters, new shapes and spaces are created.
