1st International Biennale of Arts at Santorini
Η Μπιενάλε της Σαντορίνης είναι μια ιδέα του καλλιτέχνη, σχεδιαστή και οικονομολόγου, Κίκου Παπαδόπουλου, που υλοποιείται με την υποστήριξη της κοινότητας Θήρας, του συλλόγου «Εστία» Πύργου και του «Santorini of the Past» Cultural Village, στον Πύργο.
Σε αυτή την 1 Μπιενάλε, καλλιτέχνες από όλο τον κόσμο κλήθηκαν να εκφράσουν την δική τους οπτική πάνω στο θέμα: ”Παρελθόν, μνήμη και νοσταλγία”.
Το γραφείο μας επιλέχθηκε να συμμετάσχει στο τομέα του Graphic Design, με τα έργα: "A24+ Silence Water", "We are going to tie the knot" και "Dowry".
«Η ιδέα μιας συνεύρεσης καλλιτεχνών από όλο τον κόσμο στη Σαντορίνη, γεννήθηκε στο μυαλό μου το 2001, όταν άρχισα να παρατηρώ προσεκτικότερα τον πλούτο αυτού του εντυπωσιακά δραματικού νησιού. Η σχέση μεταξύ της παράδοσης και η εμπλοκή της στον μηχανισμό παραγωγής της «μοντέρνας αισθητικής», η κοινωνική ψυχολογία των κατοίκων, η άγρια ομορφιά του σκηνικού και η τοπική οικονομία, μας ανοίγουν νέους ορίζοντες σκέψης, μας υποδεικνύουν νέους τρόπους ζωής», αναφέρει χαρακτηριστικά ο ιδρυτής της Μπιενάλε, Κίκος Παπαδόπουλος.
Η έκθεση έλαβε χώρα μεταξύ 1/8-30/9 2012.

The Biennale of Santorini is the idea of artist, designer and economist Kikos Papadopoulos; supported significantly by the Municipality of Thera, the Estia Association of Pyrgos and the Santorini of the Past Cultural Village in Pyrgos.
In this international exhibition, artists from around the world were invited to express their ideas and perspectives on the subject of “Past, memory, nostalgia”.
Our creative studio was selected to participate in the domain of Graphic arts with the following projects: "A24+ Silence Water", "We are going to tie the knot" and "Dowry".
«The idea for a meeting of artists from around the world in Santorini was born in 2001, when I first began to carefully observe the richness of this dramatic island. The relation between the tradition and how it gets involved into our modern “aesthetics machine”, the local social psychology, the dramatic beauty of the island and the local economy can indicate us how to open new ways of living and thinking», says Biennale founder Kikos Papadopoulos.
The exhibition took place from August 1 to 30 September 2012.
Α24+ Silence Water | Self Promotion
Πιες, άκου, μίλα.
Η έμπνευση για το Α24+ Αμίλητο Νερό προήλθε από τη συνηθισμένη πρακτική πολλών να διακόπτουν το συνομιλητή τους, χωρίς να τον αφήνουν να ολοκληρώσει τον λόγο του.
Το Α24+ χρησιμοποιεί τη γνωστή ελληνική έκφραση «το αμίλητο νερό ήπιες;» για να προτρέψει τον αποδέκτη του να σκεφτεί πριν μιλήσει, υπενθυμίζοντάς του ουσιαστικά τη γνωστή ρήση πως "για να μάθεις να μιλάς, πρέπει πρώτα να μάθεις να ακούς". Το Α24+ προσφέρεται στα πλαίσια αυτοπροβολής του γραφείου μας.
Το Α24+ σχεδιάστηκε σε γυάλινη φιάλη, στην οποία αποτυπώνεται δοσομετρητής με 4 δόσεις των 0,125L διάρκειας 24' η κάθε μία. Η ονομασία Α24+ προκύπτει από το συνδυασμό του Α, το οποίο είναι το αρχίγραμμα της λέξης «Αμίλητο» και του 24, που αναφέρεται στα λεπτά που διαρκεί η επίδραση τής κάθε δόσης.
Το Α24+ Αμίλητο Νερό, ενδείκνυται για άτομα με ευαισθησία σε παρουσιάσεις, διαλέξεις και συνέδρια. Καταπραΰνει την επιθυμία για διακοπή του διαλόγου, ενισχύει την ακοή, ενδυναμώνει την ικανότητα της συγκέντρωσης και παρατείνει το χρόνο αδιάσπαστης προσοχής.

Drink, listen, say.
The inspiration for the Α24+ Silence Water came from the common practice of interrupting. Often people interrupt one another, without letting whoever is speaking finish his sentence. The name ‘Silence Water’ is actually part of a Greek saying,originated in a myth. The question “did you drink the Silence Water?” is addressed nowadays to someone who is not responsive or very quiet or out of words.
In Α24+ we use this saying as a reminder that one should not be hasty in talking, but should rather “learn to listen first and then speak”. The Α24+ Silence Water is our studio’s self promotional project.
The Α24+ was designed in a glass bottle, with a dispenser comprising of 4 doses of 0.125 L, each lasting 24’. The name Α24+ results from the combination of the letter A, which is the drop cap of the word ‘silent’ and 24, which indicates the duration of each dose’s effect.
The Α24+ Silence Water is suitable for people with sensitivity to presentations,lectures and conferences. It soothes the desire to interrupt, enhances hearing,strengthens concentration and prolongs the period of unbroken attention.

We are going to tie the knot | Wedding Invitation
Βασισμένοι στην παραδοσιακή έκφραση «θα τους κρεμάσω», που συνήθως προέρχεται από τον πατέρα της νύφης και αναφέρεται στο δεσμό του γάμου, δημιουργήσαμε μια χιουμοριστική πρόσκληση, η οποία περιέχει κορδόνι, αλλά και οδηγίες για το πώς να κατασκευάσει κανείς μια θηλιά.

In the Greek language, there is an expression that uses the word “hang” in order to say “marry”. So, traditionally, when the father of the bride says “I will hang them”, he means that he will tie the couple with the holly bond of marriage.
This tradition inspired a humorous invitation that includes both a rope and instructions on how to make a slip knot.
Dowry | Wedding Invitation
Στο παρελθόν ο γάμος αποτελούσε μια ξεκάθαρα εμπορική πράξη, την οποία σφράγιζε τοπροικοσύμφωνο. Ήταν επίσημο έγγραφο, το οποίο συντασσόταν πριν από το γάμο. Είχε τη μορφή ιδιωτικού συμφωνητικού, που καθόριζε την προίκα την οποία θα λάβαινε ο γαμπρός από τη νύφη. Πολλές φορές, πέραν της οικονομικής, αποτελούσε και πολιτική συμφωνία.
Με χιουμοριστική διάθεση και θέλοντας να γεφυρώσουμε το παρελθόν με το παρόν, αντλήσαμε έμπνευση για το σχεδιασμό αυτής της πρόσκλησης γάμου, από το γλωσσικό ιδίωμα με το οποίο συντάσσονταν τα προικοσύμφωνα.
Η πρόσκληση έχει τυπωθεί σε όρθιο πιεστήριο με χρήση κλισέ σε χαρτί 60γρ./μ2, και σε φάκελο με γόμα, διαστάσεων 22,5χ10,5εκ. Σχεδιαστήκαν 4 διαφορετικές σφραγίδες, ενώ οι προσκλήσεις σφραγίστηκαν και υπεγράφησαν μία-μία στο χέρι από τους γονείς, τους κουμπάρους, τον γαμπρό και τον θέσει συμβολαιογράφο (ΧρήστοςΤριβυζάς).
Με χιουμοριστική διάθεση και θέλοντας να γεφυρώσουμε το παρελθόν με το παρόν, αντλήσαμε έμπνευση για το σχεδιασμό αυτής της πρόσκλησης γάμου, από το γλωσσικό ιδίωμα με το οποίο συντάσσονταν τα προικοσύμφωνα.
Η πρόσκληση έχει τυπωθεί σε όρθιο πιεστήριο με χρήση κλισέ σε χαρτί 60γρ./μ2, και σε φάκελο με γόμα, διαστάσεων 22,5χ10,5εκ. In the past marriage was clearlya commercial act, certified by the dowry. The dowry was a legal document drawnup before the wedding. It had the form of a private agreement that determinedthe dowry which the groom would receive from the bride. The nature of theagreement was often political as well as economic.
In a humorous mood and in anattempt to connect the past with the present, we drew inspiration for thedesign of this wedding invitation from the written idiom in which dowries wereredacted.
The invitation was printed on a letterpress on 60gr/m2 paper and on a 22.5x10.5cm size retro style envelope. Four different stamps were designed and theinvitations where sealed and signed one by one by the parents, the best men,the groom and the suggested notary (Chris Trivizas).
