Sail Frockets Ticketing & Business Card

Product Design, Branding
I recently had the chance to help a mutual friend out with a business venture of his. The scoop - He's sourcing and repurposing out-of-commission boat sails and using them to fabricate pockets with the material. He then stitches these pockets onto heather shirts, shorts, etc. that are made right here in NC from local cotton. The end product is a low-key (usually earthtone) piece of apparel with a subtle dash of color with the material.

This client didn't have an established aesthetic (and I love starting from scratch) aside from a logo which was done when he first started operating. I wanted to bring in a sense of longevity or old-time honesty to his pieces (to balance with his more modern logo) so I decided on a more dapper approach for his ticketing. I picked a layout that was very simple, taking qeues from ticketing and other promotional materials from the early 1990s.

For his personal business card, I wanted to try to encorporate the sail shape into the design somehow. After a few failed attempts that looked more like origami than practical design, I settled on a simple elongated foldover card which allows for a few stages of information. This way, the card can be housed with standard sized cards, but still have a little bit more for the eye. (or so I hope.)
