Green Park Station, London
Green Park is the first station to be made step free within the Circle Line and marks a key milestone in London Underground’s readiness for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
As a central part of the "Unlocking London Plan" it offers the disabled and elderly, families and the wider public, sheltered access to a fully integrated multi-modal interchange (tube, bus, bicycle, taxi). An interchange for the Jubilee, Victoria and Piccadilly lines, over 30 million passengers enter the station every year.
Our brief was to create a landmark entrance which is sympathetic to the station’s Holden past and the surrounding buildings such as the Ritz Hotel (Grade II*) and several significant large private residences, including Spencer House (Grade I). As a result the station is intentionally minimal.
