This was a short-turn around project, with a need for two to three renders for a presentation - net time from receipt of model to three finished renders was 6.5 billable hours.
Rather than actually create appropriate interior lights for the night render, I simply set the glass to being luminous - this made development of a night render fairly fast. I avoided the use of any actual direct lights - all lights are lumigons, and thus the render time is not impacted by having to cast photons from direct light sources; the number of bounces is set to one, but with a larger limit distance, which gives a reasonable facsimile (on an exterior) of real Global Illumination.
