Co-Design Commission
My friend, architect Jason Mabry, commissioned me to help design a work space for his apartment. He wanted the workspace in a room with a lot of natural light, tall ceilings,  but very little floor space.  We worked together on the design and came to the conclusion that we must build upward, and keep the furniture footprint to a minimum.

Walnut, woodglue, and aluminum brackets were the only materials used in this project

The shelves were designed with a stair-step effect to allow the room's windows to open fully and for larger items to be placed on lower shelves

We came to the conclusion to use the house structure as the furniture structure, and anchor heavy duty brackets into the wall.  This gives the room a clear floor and plenty of support for the furniture.
