News From Nowhere
The Piet Zwart Institute (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) asked me to design a visual identity for the graduation projects of Media Design & Communication. The classic story 'News From Nowhere' from the author William Morris, was used as a general theme for the event. In short, this story is about a person that falls asleep and leaps through time waking up in a new and unknown world. The story also loops together utopian socialism & science fiction. This all relates to the way the institute sees the role of their students. Basically they are designing for the future, taking up a social and critical role.

To grasp this all, the ideas mentioned above where translated to a type based solution that refers to the numbers of an analogue flip clock. The design leaves enough space to respect the visual qualities of the graduation projects but is still strong enough to create a 'mental space' for an overall visual identity.
