Object design for the faculty of architecture of the PONTIFICIA UNIVERSIDAD JAVERIANA

The Royal Institute of British Architects RIBA, visited the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, a prestigious university in Bogotá Colombia to evaluate and credit its architecture program, facilities and achievents. The faculty of architecture was requested to present samples of its student's work to the RIBA's committee.

The faculty of architecture needed to showcase an inmense amount of work produced by the students, including presentation sheets, models and digital works. Due to the amount of work to be evaulated and the lack of space available for such a massive presentation, the task was to make the evaluation process and enjoyable experience for the committee and the public in general.

ETA (Estudio Triana Arquitectos) was contacted to handle the job. ETA later recruited me as the lead designer and production manager of the project. We decided to tackle this challenge using industrial design to come up with a slick probe to showcase all the student's work. This device had to be easily produced, user friendly and budget responsible. We also wanted it to act as the featured host for the entire exhibition.

The result was a pretty simple, almost invisible probe that could be easily transported, customized and installed to fit all kinds of spaces and acomodate all the student's work. The device could host as much as 32 1m x .07m presentation sheets in no more than 3 meters, which exceded everyone's expectations and needs.
The probe became the center of attention at the RIBA's Student Showcase, since it was cool to watch and operate.

Thanks to Natalia at ETA, for trusting me and  for giving me the opportunity to create.
Motion graphics were produced to illustrate the concept, the problem and the solution, as part of an initiative to bring this design wherever is needed.
The devices were installed along the main corridor to enphasise the circulation and stress the perspective. The look of the devices was also favoured with this setup.
The concret ceilling was one of the room's features that gave the design a chance to shine.
The design also brought unity to the entire showroom, connecting the mezzanine with the main floor.
