This project, completed for the 'Product Development & Selection' course in the BA (Hons) International Fashion Business program at Nottingham Trent University, focuses around the United Kingdom women's wear retailer Oasis. It required an understanding of their target customer and the current retail market, in order to create four pieces of work, including a visual representation of their customer, an analysis of their competitors' product offering, a 10 minute presentation of the findings, and a collection proposal, based on all previous information.
The following examples are from the final piece, the collection proposal, which involved researching a particular product type's trends for the forthcoming Autumn/Winter 2011 season, and finding/altering designs to suit the customer preferences and market place requirements. A visual merchandising plan was designed to properly represent the products in store, upon their release, and the feasibility of the entire proposal needed to be justified through varied research and analysis.
When completed, the project was deemed to be "A comprehensively compiled report, professionally presented with a strong aesthetic link true to the brand...which shows clear understanding around business practice and evidences an understanding of product selection..," by course instructor Jo O'Rourke.
