Eveningwear Sample Collection
This sample collection, with one prototype constructed, was geared towards the Telio Design Competition for Fall / Winter 2011. The theme being "The Great White North" and finding inspiration in Canada with Telio fabrics in mind geared towards an eveningwear collection.
As a Canadian, we are known internationally for our courteous lifestyle and diplomatic efforts. A definition well earned and greatly appreciated, but it is not however the definition that we Canadians define for ourselves. We are a national community and we find great pride in our history and achievements; However as a country, we are known for our nature and breath-taking landscapes.
The essence of Mother Earth as the Native Aboriginals know her, her warm embrace in the campfire as stories are told to the calming waters that flow through rivers and streams and to the cold northern frontier that plays shadows for months at a time. Her connection to the Earth has transcended to the young Canadian women of today, our affinity to nature and the creative vision of the future flows like a spirit through us all.

Design Elements include:
Colours inspired by Native Aboriginal Symbolism that work well in cohesion (from the top): Earth; Amethyst Jewel known for calming and purifying one's soul of addictions; Water, cleans and calms the soul; Golden Glow of the campfire, where tribal leaders would tell their stories, representing a proud tradition of storytelling; and finally, ancestral spirits that guide the Aboriginal people.
The essence of spirit is captured in flowing movement on the boy, the twists and draping to accent the female form represented in both solid and ombre fabrics.

The prototype was constructed of Teal Christian Dior Silk Satin Charmeuse and Gold Metallic Organza, with fishing wire for the hem to accent the tucks on the overlay. Complete with center back invisible zipper on the body and invisible snaps on the overlay for the closures.
