Krakatoa & FumeFX Particles

Krakatoa & FumeFX

This was a project I did for my Visual Comunication course at IED Milan.

The main subject was the generative art, an art created by an autonomous system. On the books was described as
"computer generated artwork that is algorithmically determined".

The course of Visual Comunication was followed also by students of Video Design, Sound Design, Media Design and Photography, so I decided to implement my knowledge of computer graphics to create something "new".

The idea was to take FumeFX as the driver system of particles, and then cash and render everything within Krakatoa's render engine. Since I had to leave the computer to automatically and randomly determine most of the process, I used the Magma node based system to change color and illumination of the particles based on the age and lifespan of them. And after several Gigs of cache, this is the result.

There are two different cases, one, that simulates that resembles an ink drop in water, and another one smoke explosions.

The professor was happy with the end result, I hope so are you.
