Klimaks, in english Climax, is the name of a new youth television programme. The concept and the set design is made for Studio 6, in DR Byen, Copenhagen.
This project is a reaction to the increasing changes we are experiencing in the climate. The spotlight will be on Copenhagen during COP15 in December - United Nations Climate Change Conference. Klimaks is supposed to open the eyes, and broaden the horizon of a younger target group than the one the conference is intended for, the 15 to 20 year old.
In addition, Klimaks is a reaction to the youth programmes that already exist, where the tempo is way up and the themes are usually music, love or teenage problems. In this programme the youngsters will be entertained and educated in climate changes all at the same time.
The first pictures are suggested frames for the intro/outro film for Klimaks, which is made in a collage style. The intro gives an impression of what kind of programme this is. It tells the viewers that Klimaks is an entertaining programme about climate. As the frames also show us, as it is in black and white, the program has gloomy undertones, but always keeps an ironic distance to the darkness.
The music for the intro/ outro, Nephew - a very popular danish band
Scenography and picture compositionBelow are nine frames from the TV programme, which I have developed to give an expression of the programme, Klimaks, as close to the real thing as possible.
The elements are designed to be an important part of the picture composition. The role of the Tornado is to appear in the picture as much as possible, as it is the most recognisable element in Klimaks.  The Tornado and the people in the picture are used to give the picture depth. If there are no layers, the picture will seem flat and uninteresting.
At the end of the programme the tornado tells the participants how much CO2 their solution to a climate challenge will save. The more the tornado is lit up, the more CO2 can be saved.
Klimaks' page on www.dr.dk. The page has three entries. One for the college students, one for the collage teachers, and one for the tv viewers. It is the teachers who decide to sign their students up for the programme, as a part of their lessons.

Parallel with the youngsters competing in the studio, the rest of the college students in Denmark compete by helping the teams in the tv programme to achive good results. The students who do the best work is invited to the programme as audience.
