Quick index maps to aid location of 1:5,000 scale orthophoto tiles

The Laos National Geography Department (NGD) has begun making the new 1:5,000 scale orthophotos tiles available for purchase.

An index to the tiles has now been released by NGD and this is the source data for these maps.   Sole intent of these maps is to help identify correct orthophotos tile ids. All other data depicted is outdated and is only shown for illustrative purposes. Maps prepared June 2012.

Individual provincial index maps are available for the following Southern Laos Provinces:
     - Khammouan (only southern part of province is covered)
     - Savannanakhet
     - Salavan
     - Xekong ("Sekong")
     - Champasak
     - Attapu

Funding for the acquisition and processing of these aerial photos was provided by the Government of Finland and undertaken by Finnmap under the SNGS project

Files sizes for each Provincial map index is between 4 to 5 Mb as a jpeg. If you would like the full resolution jpeg please simply email me and I will send as an email attachment.

To order a specific 1:5,000 orthophoto tile from NGD use the index to locate the correct tile id as follows:
Example "D-48-11-(66)" where "D-48-11" is the old Russian 1:100,000 index map sheet number and
"(66)" is the specific tile number within this map sheet.
