This series of brooches and prints, like the Recollections series, explore moments of visual memory in relation to place. These pieces, however, bring more attention to the memory of objects. I am interested in the importance of objects with a past life that receive heirloom status. The prints are a combination of digital transfers and lithographs that highlight objects that were given to me or that I have deemed to have heirloom qualities. Fragments of the prints are encased within brooches that display pierced silhouettes of the elements in print. The relationship between paper and metal suggests delicacy and the need for protection and preservation of the memory that is being considered. These brooches hold the potential to become new heirlooms with a unique history containing remnants of objects and places that are meaningful to me.
