The two-seater Mercedes-AMG Project One will transfer the latest and most efficient Formula 1 hybrid technology almost one to one from the race track to the street for the first time. The performance hybrid will produce over 1000 horsepower at a maximum speed of over 350 km/h. Deerstreet worked on the interface concepts for the anniversary hypercar.
We stayed in a close feedback loop with AMG's design board at their headquarters (and remote) to work out and apply the graphical character of the „Supersport” race mode to an AMG cockpit display.
It was important to communicate the car's sheer power in the User Interface Design with a strong analogy of a racetrack, as you can see in the speedometer and various other graphical elements.

How can a hybrid engine get translated visually? Electricity in its veins, a fully packed muscle engine and a history of 50 years of race car driving needs to find a visual future.
By sketching a concept, we define the first rough distribution of final elements, layers and information. The simplistic lines make it fast and convenient to discuss everything that is needed for later with our client.
This car is built for race car drivers, so we contacted them directly to ask what matters for them in every aspect of the race. It turns out, the most crucial part in a race is to shift your gear in the perfect millisecond while having a clear view on the current speed.
Formula 1

This car brings Formula 1 racing to the street. The two seater beauty gets its horsepower from 5 engines of Hybrid technology to go from 0 to 200 in less than 6 sec.
Just like the exterior, the interior was a well protected secret during the concept phase of all interfaces. Only hints about yellow accents and a „fantastic Formula 1 feeling“ with high class leather were known.

deerstreet worked on the interface concept for the anniversary Hypercar „Project ONE” from Mercedes AMG. This hybrid performance beast with over 1000 HP is equipped with AMG’s latest display technology to indicate crucial car functions like speed and gear. Designing for this display included a visual concept phase with strong onsite support and provided a wide range of visual artworks and animations for further developments.

We used different methods and several design programs to create a broad variety of over 50 different visual concepts for our client. We provided many more sketches, mood pictures and animations to showcase our vision for AMG’s visual future.
O n s i t e s u p p o r t
To develop the best interfaces we found it crucial to have a strong collaboration onsite at AMG’s headquarters for first hand information from race car drivers and engineers. It was all about understanding what matters most in a 350 km/h fully powered race car.
