Atlas of a Galaxy

Billions of years ago, two of the numerous galaxies of the universe, came too close to each other. The gravitational pull of each, brought them together and made them begin a very long journey towards collision. For millions of years, their bulges were kept close, without ever touching, forcing the galaxies’ arms to twirl around them and slowly transform, until they finally became one, and the bulges merged together and settled to the form of a spiral galaxy.

The forces that were created destroyed many systems that the two galaxies previously had, either by turning planets and stars to dust, or by eliminating every sign of life. Many systems survived the collision, but were in utter loss to what was now surrounding them, as the world had completely changed. Planets had changed orbit, moved from their original positions, and there was no unity.
When the formation of the galaxy was done, a new era began. With the world settling down again, the technological evolution of the survived planets regained its pace, and the explorers started going out of their known limits, looking for other signs of remaining life, expanding our knowledge of the galaxy until now.
