ABISMOS

El acto de habitar supone la construcción de relaciones multidireccionales, desde dimensiones espaciales, objetuales, corporales, emocionales y culturales, entre un sujeto, el espacio y una serie de prácticas que se sitúan como puentes entre ambos, es decir, los lugares existen en tanto sus usos, pero esos usos o prácticas son posibles en tanto existan los lugares, se trata de una suerte de reciprocidad simbiótica en la que sujeto y espacialidad son generados de manera simultánea y por lo tanto indivisible. Así, la función de habitar el espacio no es privativa de las personas, ya que las cosas comparten los lugares con nosotros. Hasta en el rincón más recóndito de una casa es posible encontrar algún objeto que represente los valores íntimos de sus moradores.

Del hogar nada es tan propio y privado como la habitación. Este oasis personal es donde el hombre aprende a mirar dentro de sí mismo. Es decir, habitar no es sólo estar en un lugar, es un proceso mediante el cual al relacionarnos con el espacio lo llenamos de significados. Al vivirlo en su realidad y su virtualidad, en las acciones cotidianas y en el ensueño, el pensamiento y el recuerdo.

En esta exposición quise trasladar la habitación de uno de los habitantes del asilo casa blanca en su totalidad al espacio de la galería, instalando el mobiliario más representativo y resaltando el decorado que se utiliza habitualmente, capturando la atmosfera que se siente en el lugar nativo. En las paredes están dispuestos los retratos que he pintado de Ana la propietaria de los objetos e inquilina de la pieza junto a todos sus apuntes, sus anotaciones, sus cartas y las hojas de su diario personal. Un común denominador de las cosas que se conservan en la recámara es que tienen la función simbólica de poner el pasado en orden, pues a fin de cuentas los recuerdos son pequeños sentimientos suspendidos en el tiempo. En las pinturas y los objetos se explora la intimidad y su relación con el paso de la vida, son un registro minucioso de la sensación de ensimismamiento que produce el entorno en el que se tiene que estar día a día.

ABYSS

The act of inhabiting involves the construction of multidirectional relationships, from spatial, objective, bodily, emotional and cultural dimensions, between a subject, space and a series of practices that are placed as bridges between both, that is, places exist as its uses, but those uses or practices are possible as long as the places exist, it is a kind of symbiotic reciprocity in which subject and spatiality are generated simultaneously and therefore indivisible. Thus, the function of inhabiting space is not private to people, since things share places with us. Even in the most remote corner of a house it is possible to find some object that represents the intimate values of its inhabitants.

Nothing is as private and as home as the room. This personal oasis is where man learns to look within himself. In other words, inhabiting is not just being in a place, it is a process by which when we relate to space we fill it with meanings. By living it in its reality and its virtuality, in daily actions and in reverie, thought and memory.

In this exhibition, move the room of one of the inhabitants of the Casa Blanca asylum in its entirety to the gallery space, installing the most representative furniture and highlighting the decor that is commonly used, capturing the atmosphere felt in the native place. On the walls are the portraits painted by Ana, the owner of the objects, and consultation of the piece, along with all her notes, annotations, letters, and sheets from her personal diary. A common denominator of the things that are kept in the bedroom is that they have the symbolic function of putting the past in order, because after all, memories are small feelings suspended in time. In paintings and objects intimacy and its relationship with the passage of life are explored, they are a meticulous record of the feeling of self-absorption produced by the environment in which one has to be day by day.
