We designed the Medilib system as a self-contained method for delivering medical papers to Health Care Professionals. We achieved this through an email, a single summary delivery page, and a back-end content management system. With this, publishers could promote their new papers to users, without needing to send out physical copies.
This is the email presented to users by the system when a new paper is available. Utilising a simple layout, it encourages the user to click on the link, and reach the page that summarizes and delivers the document.
The planning board for the main delivery page. With the help of stakeholders, I defined a list of features that could show or hide depending on availability. Considering the requirements of the reader and the publisher, I organised these features into an information hierarchy. I then used this hierarchy to define the order, size and weight of text to denote emphasis, and allow ease of quick reading.

I based the layout upon the information hierarchy, ensuring that page presents the most important information to the user first. Chevrons at the top right of each section allows the user to hide and show text. The right hand section encourages the user to download the full product, and stays with the user as they scroll down the page.
Planning the back-end system for MediLib. This served as a content management system for publishing employees to control the main pages. Consisting of various screens, I devised an information hierarchy to improve the user experience, consulting stakeholders and engaging in card-sorting exercises. I ordered components based upon this hierarchy and examining user journeys throughout the system.
Since building Medilib, both clients and users have deemed it a success, and the system has been used across the medical sector to promote new papers. Clients have remarked upon the ease of use for the back-end, and users have said they find the delivery page well laid out, and easy to use.
