Logo development for a new, internationally-focused breastfeeding advocacy organization.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Nurturing Nursing, LLC is a small lactation consulting group run by Angela Lang that formed in 2013. The organization consults with new moms and moms-to-be about breastfeeding; explaining it's benefits and joys. The group works both locally in southeastern Wisconsin and internationally in places like sub-Saharan Africa.
I was tasked to create a tasteful logo depiciting a mother and child in a breastfeeding position that would appeal mainly to women and look appropriate in a corporate environment. According to the brief, the logo also needed to be ethnically ambiguous to appeal to the largest number of women.
The mark, consisting of a circle surrmounted by a simple illustration is both soothing and visually striking. I attemped to create something that was simple, but could connote more when examined closely; the woman's profile is roughly the same shape as the west coast of Africa. The typography, Bombshell Pro, is distinctly feminine with its undulating baseline and script forms. The extended color palette opens the logo up for a wide range of uses.
