The first sketch is based on an existing plug adapter assembly. This gave me an opportunity to explore and analyse the design as well as look for problems related to both design and cost.

The second exploded view shows my own design and I managed to reduce the number of components and replace the two internal springs and ABS hole cover with a single bending PP hole cover that slips out of the way: A simplistic solution that would reduce the component costs dramatically. I have also included some of the concept drawings in the background.

All of the drawings are felt tip marker on 80gsm paper.
