The National Heritage Training Group

The Skills for Future division of the National Heritage Training Group (NHTG) approached us to look at creating a new website initially to help find apprentices to train with them. Following a planning and immersion workshop with the project leaders we established that the whole NHTG site needed to be looked at. The brief for the website was to engage with the various audiences, the main 3 targets being; Building Companies, Workers and Property Owners/Investors.

We needed to drive an emotional connection between the heritage of the ‘traditional’ skills and shortage of people with this knowledge to create a sustainable workforce to maintain these historic buildings accurately for future generations.

The main mission was to make the organisation, and its work, more visible and to provide those interested in opportunities within the heritage building sectors with the information they needed to explore in more detail.
The website relies heavily on great imagery and so as part of the project we directed a days shoot, with Anton Stark, at the Machester Central Library and Town Hall Extension to capture some of the trainees in action. Shoot 2 is in the pipeline where we hope to get some more down and dirty pictures to represent accurately the life and work of these skilled professionals.

We hope the website will begin to build more of a community around the subject of 'heritage skills', it features some nice integration with social platforms, pulling from Twitter and Instagram, so that the public can fully get involved.
