Leaflet with itineraries and street sequence. Each leaflet sheet includes a schedule, service information and the itinerary by districts and streets.
Traffic axis and district colors: each area has its respective colour, defined through semantic and geographic values.
Itineraries between districts in a linear representation. The colour sequence defines the different areas, allowing the user to perceive further information about it, i.e. to which extention a bus line go through certain districts.
Detail of the visual elements of the bus line itinerary:
- Terminal
- Street, Avenue, Square
- circular point: indicates that the line changes its direction
- Viaduct, Tunnel, Bridge

Itineraries between areas in a linear representation. Once rearranged (below), one perceives that almost all the lines that service Copacabana take the same or a very similar route before and after this district.

Itineraries between areas in a linear representation. Once isolated from the other lines, one perceives that some pairs of lines have the same itineraries, but with opposite directions. In order to make it more clear, a circular representation of these lines was created (below).

Masks were used in order to make neighborhoods only visible from the same area.
Some lines go through particular areas in a dense manner, which could evidence of a long, redundant itinerary.
The project was published in 2009 in the book portfolio of the Escola Superior de Desenho Industrial.

The project was published in the 2008 edition of the Output, a book which features a selection of academic projects from all over the world. The Output is a non-profit organisation in Amsterdam. "The goal of the foundation is to support young talents and provide a platform for the exchange of ideas on design education and the design profession."
Considering that De Para was an academic project and lasted many months, here are some images and sketches, displaying the "backstage" of the project, as a making of, showing a bit its process and development.
