For Epipheo: Ready, Set, Bag!

DIRECTOR'S COMMENTARY
A good portion of my job is coming up with creative ways to convey a message. When it also happens to be funny, it's a huge bonus. I've always wanted to chill with the MGM Lion.
Moments like these are my favorite to animate because I really enjoy fine-tuning the comedic timing. Sound effects help as well. I may or may not have recorded myself hitting my head on the desk as research.
There were a lot of "1-up" sequences in this project because the client was so creative. He would come back with a note and I felt the freedom to run with it, so I would take it a step further. Creative ping pong is the best.
Amazing how a "small" drink is now larger than the "large" drink was when I was your age.
One of the biggest challenges of this project was to show when these different promotion puzzle pieces were being fit together. We had the idea of making it interactive with the character in the form of a light-up marquee sign. Each time our hero would accomplish something in the story, he would be rewarded by seeing it in lights. If only real life were like this.
This was certainly the most challenging frame; often, it is the most confusing as well. We needed to draw a parallel between our client's film and the top three indie features at the time, but without being blatant and putting a drawing of the films' posters. The three films represented here are "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work," "Exit Through The Gift Shop - A Banksy Film," and "Babies." If you can't tell which is which, well, I'm sorry, I failed.
