Lush iPad application design
Design and New Media II
With the accelerated growth of the iPad in the technology, communication and design fields, our class assignment was to create a new app for a client of our choice. Challenging and innovative, our class assignment allowed us not only to explore the design aspects of the iPad but also its user interface, also applying social media strategies where possible ( I chose to incorporate 4square in the app. The more you buy through the app and at the store, the more points you collect).

With Lush as my chosen client, I decided to keep the already existent logo as it is well recognized around the world. The same casual, playful and cartoony feel that the company already carries was incorporating throughout the application by sharpie marker illustrations.

The name "Lush Fresh" was a name I came up for a new campaign that Lush would eventually carry out, enhancing that their products are all freshly made out of natural products.

The name "Lush Times" comes from the Lush's own catalog which is designed as a newspaper and is distributed in every store. I decided to bring in the same newspaper concept into the iPad where it could potentially be a interactive catalog where customer purchase the products with a simple click.

A different perspective page for the Lush iPad app. The background template would essentially be the same throughout the app. Each product featured on the screen is clickable, taking the user into a new page.

As the iPad promotes a simple and clean user interface, I made sure not to overcrowd the screen with too much information. The clickable buttons on the right side would essentially bring a out a list of other pages offered in the app. A "back" button where you simply swish your fingers to the left would take you to any previous page you were viewing - always a useful tool.

The iPad also tries to incorporate a realness factor to its apps. The paper clips on the right bring out this realness factor. They look detachable and have pieces of paper attached to them.

This page was essentially a interactive PDF file. The TV screen shows a promotional video.

Lush iPad app micromark

I chose to make the micromark simple and direct. The black back ground allows the yellow and green logo to stand out and also keeps with the Lush's existent color schemes.
I decided not to modify the logo as it is such a well known icon.
