Škoda Auto is a traditional Czech car manufacturer that uses the claim Simply clever. This claim perfectly defined our challenge in designing a simple and easy to use infotainment interface. The interface provides information & entertainment content with ease and control through the use of a variable dashboard. We choose the dashboard as an optimal solution to minimize the amount of time drivers hands are removed from the steering wheel. Our goal was for the driver to perceive all required interactions with as little eyecontact as posible with the display.
Content that fits your needs
None of the core mechanical controls are embedded into the interface, this is so that a seperation of operation is created between the infotainment panel and the vehicle. Each data field is also quickly and easily customisable to suit individual users requirements.

Interface
Easy and intuitive was our main goal. By removing all of the unnecessary information that we felt created clutter we were able to compliment simple controls and buttons with vivid colors to create an intuitive experience. The day & night color mode builds ontop of this by reacting to the time of day and minimises glare and reduces eye strain.

Focus mode
All information is entered or received in the focus mode to maximize safety while controlling the panel. The surrounding content is suppressed so the driver can focus on one task at a time.
Alerts and notifications
A default "do not disturb" mode while driving means no unnecessary notifications. Exceptions are made when notifications are related to traffic ahead.
We consider this concept as something extra - a side project that is still in its early stages and needs refining if, one day it is to be ready for production. We are aware of the complexity of work that would need to be done to get to this stage as designing a car interface under real life conditions is much more challenging and with all the technical and budgetary constraints, well...harder! However, we have faith in the process of agile design which was central to our approach with this concept.
