Majority of patients who underwent knee replacement have less knee pain and stated that their overall quality of life has improved. Rushing into activities before complete recovery may be risky for complications. It’s best to perform comprehensive exercise routine gradually. Most can resume many of your normal activities after about 8-12 weeks after a knee replacement. Consult with a orthopedic specialist before starting a new sport or physical activity. Staying active will also assist in strengthen your knee and hasten your recovery.   Low-impact exercises are recommended over high-impact versions such 1. Walking is one of the best exercises to build strength. 2. Running. is an aerobic activity but is high-impact. The harder patients are on the devices, made of metal and plastic, the sooner they’ll need risky and often less successful revision surgery; and requires an individualized conversation between doctor and athlete to consider the appropriate knee replacement procedure. 3.Swimming is non-weight-bearing activity and can be resumed within three to six weeks post- surgery. 4. Ballroom dancing and gentle modern dancing are recommended without twisting, jumping and abrupt movements that could put your knee out of alignment. 5.Cycling
is a good way to regain strength particularly peddling backwards on a stationary bike as you gradually gain your strength back. 6. Golf. Refrain from wearing spikes that could get caught in the ground; with adequate warm up time at the driving range, and use a golf cart once you hit the course. 7. Doubles tennis requires less movement than singles and can commence within six months post-surgery. 10. Rowing provides a good upper body workout with minimal stress on the knees. 11.Bowling, though quite safe after post-surgery, a lighter ball will help reduce stress on your knee.
