The Spirit of Hinkler Award recognises an individual who displays pioneering spirit in adventure and innovation. The Spirit of Hinkler Award draws inspiration from Australian Hero and Bundaberg Born, Bert Hinkler. Bert Hinkler was an aviation pioneer and innovator. Hinkler was the first person to fly solo from England to Bundaberg, Australia in 1928. The Inaugural recipient of the Spirit of Hinkler Award is Eleanor Carey.
The physical award combines modern aviation, pioneering aviation, and art deco accents from the period in which Hinkler conducted his world record flight.
